Steve, it was great to finally see your work up close. I hadn't realized how big the canvases really were. And it's also not possible to tell from reproductions that there's alot of paint work on the surface,
which gives them a lot of presence. They're really in the room there with you, which is exactly right, given the imagery.

Thanks for coming up last weekend. I'm a really bad small-talker especially now because I'm drinking less. Drinking or not, I never remember a thing that happens at any cocktail party. I just get anxious and disconnect. But it was great to see you and Ellen, particularly the weekend before last when I caught you both on the beach. |
